When you say “Slovenian mountains”, I reckon that most people imagine the breathtaking scenery of the Julian Alps. White peaks with green valleys, sprinkled with colorful dots of alpine flowers and lakes with water clearer than your bathtub.
Wasserfallweg is an old mountain path in Gesäuse National Park, Austria. It was established in 1891(!) which is incredible to me, and I felt honored to have a chance to hike a route which has been in existence for so long already. Just thinking about people hiking the rugged route so long ago with the most basic of hiking gear was mind blowing.

Goldstream is possibly the most popular area around Victoria for hiking. The longest hike you can do there takes you through the Western side of the park all the way to a trestle bridge, down to the highway, up to Mt Finlayson and back to a bus stop. Sarajevo is a cute capital, kind of my size of city. Big enough to have universities and museums but still small enough to see mountains from almost any place. The most convenient hike you can do there is to take a public transport bus 69 to Nahorevo. From there, you keep following the road and come to a place with a map and quite a few trails you can follow.
Norra Lunsens is a nature reserve south of Uppsala, Sweden. It’s easily accessible by public transport (eg. bus stop Fjällfinas Kåta) and kind of a must for every hiker visiting the city.

The Fimmvörðuháls pass from Skógar to Thórsmork is one of the classic hikes in Iceland. You can hike it in either direction and every year there is pretty much only a two month window when the track is passable.
