I also use third party advertisements on hikingisgood.com to support my site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on my site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google Adsense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited.

A cookie can contain information about your IP address, your device, or the online activity of a person who uses that device. I use session cookies and persistent cookies on my websites.

Hikingisgood.com is a participant of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program – it is designed to provide an aid for the websites in earning an advertisement fee – by means of advertising and linking to Amazon products.
That means that:
- When clicking on any of Amazon link provided by hikingisgood.com the cost of the product, or any other item you purchase is not increased.
- If you make a purchase on Amazon through links on my website, I may get a small commission paid directly from Amazon.com, which helps me to cover the cost of hosting of the server
- To give you an idea, currently (2020) the amount of money that I’m getting through Amazon more or less covers the running costs of the site which is about 100 USD a year
I’m linking only things that I find useful myself. I’m not trying to get rich here, only have fun by encouraging others to do the same.
