Family walk to Mt Sugarloaf

This was our fourth tramp for kids and the last day trip for kids in 2023. This wee adventure attracted 13 adults and 14 kids of very young age, typically between 2 and 6 years. We started off at Victoria Park and found our way through the maze of tracks to the top of Mt Sugarloaf. We had a good stop up there and continued towards the Easter saddle, then took Gilpins Track down to the Sign of Kiwi. After a refreshing long break, we followed the Harry Ell Walkway back to Victoria Park.

It was amazing to watch some kids being able to walk the whole track at a very young age. There were 3-year-olds and even 2-year-olds who walked the entire track, leaving me forever impressed. Thank you, everyone, for coming. I’ll see you next year (or at Woolshed Creek hut nex week :).

I lived a pretty ordinary life for a while. I did my studies, my second studies, my third studies, my first job, my second job, and my third job. I wasn’t really sure what’s going on so, in 2014, I left my home country (Czechia) to learn about the world. I’m still not sure what’s going on but I enjoy it much more. I lived in a few countries before settling in New Zealand.
