Urumau Reserve/Mt Pleasant/Whakaraupo Reserve/Bridle Path

The plan was to meet at 9 AM by the Lyttelton Information Centre. Such a late start sounded a bit too civilised for my taste, so I asked Geoffrey and Igreta if they wanted to meet me at the Gondola car park at 8 AM and walk over the hill to Lyttelton with me. They both agreed, so we ended up doing the Bridle Path twice on top of the main trip – which skewed my attached stats a bit.

From Lyttelton, we climbed the eastern ridge and joined the Crater Rim Walkway at the gun emplacements. From there, we went over Mt Pleasant and Mt Cavendish, then down to the Pioneer Women’s Memorial for a lunch stop. At this point, we bumped into five CTC members from a few different groups – it really felt like half the club hangs out around the Lyttelton Port Hills on Saturdays! I guess the market with its yummy cakes is a big attraction, heh?

After returning to Lyttelton, my wee group headed back to the Gondola car park via the Bridle Path. A great day out – thanks, Mike!

I lived a pretty ordinary life for a while. I did my studies, my second studies, my third studies, my first job, my second job, and my third job. I wasn’t really sure what’s going on so, in 2014, I left my home country (Czechia) to learn about the world. I’m still not sure what’s going on but I enjoy it much more. I lived in a few countries before settling in New Zealand.
