Round the Mountain via Curry Track

The plan was to do the Ben More circuit but the weather forced us to look for a less exposed location as far from the Main Divide as possible. Akaroa seemed to be far enough.

9 CTC members started off their spring walk by the Akaroa information centre on the seashore. Our first goal was to reach Stony Bay Peak which we managed in reasonably good time. We tried to have a break at the top but the wind was so strong that we could barely stand straight. On the way down we met a few folks from Rangiora Tramping Club – cheerful folks!

We took a decent break at Akaroa Heritage Park which is a lovely place with beautiful views over Akaroa Harbour. Then, we proceeded down to Akaroa via Woodhills Track. It was a pretty good trip considering the unpleasant weather that’s been decimating all tramping plans for a few weeks now!

About the Author

Michal
I lived a pretty ordinary life for a while. I did my studies, my second studies, my third studies, my first job, my second job, and my third job. I wasn’t really sure what’s going on so, in 2014, I left my home country (Czechia) to learn about the world. I’m still not sure what’s going on but I enjoy it much more. I lived in a few countries before settling in New Zealand.
