From Sumner to Sumner (via Godley Head and Lyttelton Market)

After the somewhat violent and highly volatile weather last week, all CTC overnight tramps were cancelled, including my planned trip to Top Trent Hut. Since I was really keen to stretch my legs, I put up a trip from Sumner to Godley Head and the Lyttelton Market, then back to Sumner.

Four trampers signed up, but two bailed in the morning and one finished early, so only Michael and I completed the full route. The walk took us through some of the most scenic landscapes the Port Hills have to offer. We watched the sunrise over Scarborough and Taylor’s Mistake, admired the blue ocean and the many small bays of Lyttelton Harbour, and enjoyed a fabulous organic ice block at the Harbour Co-op (thanks, Michael, for getting mine!).

A great day out, with plenty of miles in our legs – just what we needed to get ready for the summer adventures ahead.

Michal
I lived a pretty ordinary life for a while. I did my studies, my second studies, my third studies, my first job, my second job, and my third job. I wasn’t really sure what’s going on so, in 2014, I left my home country (Czechia) to learn about the world. I’m still not sure what’s going on but I enjoy it much more. I lived in a few countries before settling in New Zealand.
