When there’s a chance for Anna and me to head into the hills together like in the good old days, well, we’ve got to take it. Since having a kid – and with Anna’s parents moving away from Christchurch – we haven’t had many opportunities for a romantic (and slightly sweaty) womble. Anna had never actually been to Avalanche Peak, so here we are: in beautiful Arthur’s Pass, climbing one of the most famous peaks in Canterbury. I’ve climbed this beauty quite a few times, but its charm keeps pulling me back. We went up via the Avalanche Peak Track and came down via Scott’s Track. It was a beautiful day out, full of flowering alpine plants, blue skies, and gentle, warm breezes.

I lived a pretty ordinary life for a while. I did my studies, my second studies, my third studies, my first job, my second job, and my third job. I wasn’t really sure what’s going on so, in 2014, I left my home country (Czechia) to learn about the world. I’m still not sure what’s going on but I enjoy it much more. I lived in a few countries before settling in New Zealand.
