Hiking around Victoria, BC: Sidney Spit

Let’s be clear from the beginning: Sidney Island is not a hiking destination. If you try really hard and the tide is low, you can do a walk which is about 10 km long. But let’s face it, a lot of us go hiking because we want to get away, and in this respect, Sidney Spit is a very good place to get away from Victoria

Juan de Fuca Trail: Hiking report

We didn’t choose the best day to start the trail. It was Friday, 29th June 2018, the beginning of a long weekend thanks to Canada Day, by far the most popular camping weekend in Canada. But, we didn’t have much choice since we had been offered a ride to China beach on that day from Victoria and didn’t want to lose the opportunity.

Juan de Fuca Trail: Essential Information

The Juan de Fuca (JDF) trail is one of 3 classic, long coastal trails on Vancouver Island (the others being the West Coast Trail and the North Coast Trail). Primorska Planinarska Transverzala (PPT) Hiking Guide

Primorska Planinarska Transverzala (PPT; translated as the Mountaineering Coastal Transversal, the Coastal Hiking Transversal or the Adriatic transversal) is an epic 10 day hike along the coastal mountains of Montenegro. There hasn’t been a suitable known hiking guide for English speakers until now. Me and a few fellow hikers decided to create a new hiking guide about the PPT.

Two good days of hiking the Cathar Way in the winter

The Cathar Way is a roughly 240 km hike in the south of France, one of my favourite places in the world. It follows the historical sites of the Cathars through the Eastern foothills of the Pyrenees, passing through villages with stone houses often at least a few centuries old.

My favourite 10 hikes of 2017

I don’t know how it happened, but 2017 is gone. Man. This year was an epic year for hiking. I spent a month hiking around Iceland and I did some beautiful hikes in France, Germany,…
